Sergeant-Major Rheinhold Fortner 《ラインボード フォルトナー 曹長, Rainbōdo Forutonā Sōchō》 is a minor antagonist in the Hellsing series created by Kohta Hirano. He is voiced by Gou Shinomiya in the Japanese sub and Patrick Seitz in the English dub.
The head of Millennium's airborne corps of the 2nd company's 1st platoon, he is the first soldier to land on British soil in which The Major notes that it's an action worthy of the Knight's Cross.
Appearance[]
Rheinhold was a man of average build and height, standing around the same height as the many other background Millennium soldiers. He had slicked blonde hair with sharp edges, with a square facial structure and blue pupils; a large scar was shown on the left side of his eye. He wore a typical SS uniform like the other soldiers of Millennium but wore a black M43 officer's cap emblazoned with the Totenkopf symbol, similar to The Captain (though in his first appearance in the manga, he wore a typical SS helmet worn by the other soldiers of the Last Battalion, along with light facial hair).
Personality[]
He appeared psychopathic and maniacal, relishing the fact that he's a monster and appears to enjoy being one. He viewed the fiery London being bombed by Millennium as something that was as beautiful as hell and that it is the only place that they want to go and the only place that they can live in.[4]
History[]
He was one of the 1,000 Waffen-SS volunteers that were turned into an Artificial Vampire by Millennium's The Professor, making his first appearance listening to The Major's monologue.[5] Later, he witnessed the bombing of London and described it as something "beautiful, like hell shining," and that as monsters, that is the place that only they can live in and where they wanted to go.[6] He then orders the SS vampires to prepare for landing and was the first German soldier to set foot on English soil, an action recognized and noticed by the major, in which he stated that it's an action worth the Knight's Cross.[7] It is unknown how he died, most likely by the hands of The Vatican's Ninth Crusade led by Enrico Maxwell or by Alucard's familiars.
