The Luger P08 is a toggle-locked recoil operated pistol manufactured by various companies throughout all of Germany and used by the Third Reich and even The Major.

The Luger P08 is a toggle-locked recoil operated pistol with semi-automatic capability only. The pistol is capable of locking via jointed arm system as opposed to the standard slide of other semi-automatic handguns. The weapon fires from a magazine of 8 rounds standard, but could also use a drum of 32 rounds. The weapon fires 2 types of ammunition, the first of which is the 7.65×21mm and 9×19mm Parabellums. The weapon has a muzzle velocity of 148–1312 f/s, an effective range 55 yd and a rate of fire of 116 rpm in semi-automatic fire. There are at least 3 variants of the pistol, the standard, the artillery and the navy, where the latter possess longer barrels.

The Luger P08 was the next generation pistol based around the Borchardt C-93 and by the time of it's testing, Germany found the older Mauser C96 pistol had jammed more often than not, so this pistol and an improved Mauser were tested and it was found the Luger to be a lighter and more reliable pistol. The weapon underwent changes from the 7.65mm round to the 9mm round, the weapon was adopted by Imperial Germany before World War 1. It would then serve the German military throughout the war and would even after the war. By the start of World War 2, the Luger saw action again, on both the Western and Eastern Fronts, but issues arouse later. Issues not only included the resources needed to manufacture them becoming more and more scarce, but the weapon would jam when exposed to the elements. As a result, a new pistol would be created, which came in the form of the Walther P38. Despite this new weapon, the Luger was still used by German officers throughout the war and even became great souvenirs for those who captured German officers and continued service until 1953.

The Luger P08 was shown in the 9th episode of Hellsing Ultimate, in the hands of The Major. Following the insubordination of a Kriegsmarine officer to arm the Zeppelin's troops, the Major activated an arm which extended out and handed him a nickel-plated Luger with black grips and went to shoot the trooper, but at close range, missed all 8 rounds.
