Her Royal English Legions of Legitimate Supernatural and Immortal Night Guard, the Hellsing Organisation 《ヘルシング機関, Herushingu Kikan》, more formally known as the Royal Order of Religious Knights 《王立国教騎士団, Ōritsu Kokkyō Kishidan》, is the fictional titular organisation of the Hellsing anime series produced by Gonzo.
It is the organisation created to exterminate non-human forces that threaten the country's safety of the United Kingdom. Hellsing is directed by Sir Integral Wingates Hellsing, a member of the Hellsing family and descendant of Abraham Van Helsing; the founder of the organisation. The headquarters of Hellsing itself is setup in the Hellsing residence, and actions are funded by the Round Table Conference committee.
Organisation[]
Structure[]
Established a century ago by the Protestant Church, the Church of England, and the British Crown—in collaboration with Abraham Van Helsing—to combat the occult threats that loom over Great Britain beneath the public eye. It is spearheaded by a director of the Hellsing family, as Van Helsing was deeply involved in the creation of Hellsing; thus, each new generation of Hellsing directors were direct descendants from Van Helsing. It was disestablished in circa 1999 after Sir Integra (the latest Hellsing director and the last remnant of the Hellsing family) was falsely accused of treason and therefore jailed in the dungeons of the Hellsing residential area.
Hellsing had a command structure independent of the government, military, and police; decisions were made by the Round Table Conference 《円卓会議, Entaku Kaigi》, an association made up of twelve individuals of political and economic prominence, nobles, and military leaders, all loyal to the English Crown but usually left to the discretion of the head of Hellsing; in addition, the Hellsing family is among the conference's members. The military division, which served its purpose as operation forces that battled undead creatures if the situation proved not needing Arucard's involvement, contained a full list of 192 members before the attack on the Hellsing Headquarters, later reduced to 57 before the hiring of Atheists and Heathens. Intelligence officers played a role in informing Walter C. Ddolnnezz (Hellsing family retainer) of essential verifiable intelligence.

Although Hellsing was known only to the upper echelons of the police and military, it was given considerable latitude in its activities. For example, if a supernatural creature is found or suspected to be involved, Hellsing's director was allowed to take operational action at their own discretion, outside the chain of command of the police and military in charge of the case. Hellsing was also given financial aid by the Round Table Conference and was given the needed resources for their soldiers. The investigations conducted after Hellsing's operations were done by the MI5, which is the United Kingdom's domestic counterintelligence and security agency, and were at odds with Hellsing because of the suitability of its policies. Meanwhile, Sir Penwood's private sector censored and covered up the activities of Hellsing, which allowed Hellsing to conduct their battle against freaks beneath the public eye. The SAS (a special unit of the British Military) would take jurisdiction over Hellsing if the target involved has ties to terrorists (even if it also involved non-humans); subsequently, the two would often clash over whose jurisdiction would take control over the situation.
In 1999, Hellsing activities were considered "loud" and caused many Round Table members to worry. Controversy is often raised over the highly unconventional methods Hellsing chooses to do this, namely the use of anti-Christian powers and creatures. To not cause public panic, the supernatural creatures are kept secret; preventing news stations from reporting on it and any media of it will be blacklisted and banned permanently.
Hellsing had access to Humvees, VAB Armored Personal Carriers, body armor, and military gear. According to Walter's report in the aftermath of the Valentine brothers' attack on the headquarters, the Hellsing Organisation's military included 192 soldiers, reduced to 57 after battling the ghoul army. In order to keep up their fighting strength in the face of Incognito's looming threat, Sir Integra decided to hire a group of Atheists and Heathens to replace their lost soldiers. The Trump Card of Hellsing was Arucard, a vampire himself who works against his own kind as a "garbage disposal hit man" after pledging loyalty to the first master of the Hellsing family.
Headquarters[]
Located in the outskirts of London, the headquarters was also the private residence of Integra. The scale of the residence is large; training areas, which include shooting ranges, are located around the residence, libraries, and even clock towers are shown. This facility was most often used during meetings with the Round Table Conference. The nature of the secretive organisation and strategic location in which the residence is set leads to the weak defense of the gates, causing surprise and unprepared attacks to be devastating for Hellsing and the residence itself.
Crest[]
The official motto of Hellsing appears to be "In the name of God, impure souls of the living dead shall be banished into eternal damnation. Amen." It is spoken by the Hellsing soldiers before going off to battle.
